Orlando at SGI event, March 2008

I hope it is correct to post this picture here....I think it is an intense picture of a very spiritual man...
Orlando photographed at a Soka Gakkai Event USA in March 2008:

Thanks for finding that, Mayfrayn. He looks peaceful, but I can't help laughing. He reminds me of a little boy the way he is kind of smooshing his nose with the tips of his fingers. Just a cutie.

My guess would be because that was a very spiritual, somewhat private moment of Orlando's, even if it was at a public event.

Yeah, I wasn't comfy on seeing that picture either, that's why I didn't comment earlier. I felt like I was intruding on a very private moment.

And please don't get me wrong, May, I'm not having a go at you for posting, more a go at people not having the manners to know when to put the camera away, that's all.

I felt the same honestly, but then I thought, pics like this can be really inspirational to people. I know I have seen footage of prayers and it makes me cry or lifts my spirits depending on what Im going through.

No problem, I was in doubt about posting this picture or not. Where I found it, there are many other pics of people praying at this event, and they are normal people, not celebrities, so I thougt that this can be inspirational, because the world really needs some spirituality....

Girls, I am now feeling uncomfortable for you...
The photographer is clearly a professional photographer, and was probably allowed to take pictures at the event. In his profile, there are many pictures of people at various Soka Gakkai events.
But if you think that this is not appropriate, please mods, feel free to remove all...

I think this is something of both camps, and everyone's going to have mixed emotions on seeing it. I feel a bit bad that it happened, but I also feel very good that this wonderful man whom we all love and admire (each in our own way) at least believes in something, some force, that is real and living for him and for many others. Just as everyone else believes in a force that is real and living for each of us no matter what our religion may be (even if it's one we don't like much).

And at least in mine (Methodist a bit on the liberal side with a good dollop of pan-denominational seasoning, enough that I find Surak of Vulcan just as inspirational as Jesus Christ), there is a command to share the Word with others who may find it what they are looking for, but even though they don't want to hear it, to care for them. I don't know too much about Buddhism, but from what I have seen, it's a good force. And if someone believes and shows it, no matter what their belief is, someone will see it by whatever media, and be helped by it.

I think he'd be a bit embarrassed, but I also think that he would be happy if somewhere people might be lifted up by seeing someone like him (and he is such a good person) in a true faith instead of the Nothing that can take people

That's very true Istariel! Thank you~
I'm a Buddhist myself, honestly I'm very happy to see him inspired by Buddhism, his expression was so touching when praying from the heart!
but anyway, regilion is a very private thing that not for showing, and SGI members are quite low-pitched~I just hope he wouldn't be embarrassed by taking pictures:)

Faith is a very personal issue and it is wonderful to see you all being so open minded and respectful. Yes it is a personal picture but Orlando also makes no secret of his beliefs so I don't think anyone should feel uncomfortable about posting or looking at. If it inspires and uplifts then I think that he would be very glad of it.

It makes me feel good to see thoughtful, gentle and insightful comments here.

Just to let you know, the photographer of this picture is a professional photographer, that is allowed to photograph events for the World Tribune weekly newspaper of the SGI-USA.
You can read about him in his website:
http://www.erikfischerphotography.co...e/aboutme.html
There are many other wonderful pictures, not Orlando related of course, in his website!

I actually didn't mean what ya'll thought I did about that comment.....I did have a point in saying what I did, but it's not that I felt Orlando's privacy or "moment" was being invaded.
Just wanted to clear that up....

If you are not going to say why you made the comment, why make the comment at all?

It's a nice pic of a nice moment. Thanks!!
